Aiptasia, often called glass anemones, can invade reef tanks on live rock or coral frags and quickly multiply, harming corals and competing for space and food. Red Sea developed Aiptasia-X with a unique adhesive formula that encourages anemones to ingest the solution rather than retract into rock crevices. This ingestion triggers rapid internal breakdown of the Aiptasia, eliminating both the anemone and its planula larvae within minutes.

Aiptasia-X works differently from many traditional pest treatments. Rather than relying on chemical irritation, the thick, sticky mixture simulates food to stimulate feeding, making the anemone accept the treatment without withdrawing. Once ingested, the anemone implodes and dies, preventing further spread or regeneration. The solution does not significantly affect water chemistry, and unused material gradually decomposes harmlessly in the reef environment.
